5 Ways To Reinvent Avocado Toast

Do you love avocado toast? The classic breakfast/lunch/snack has been a food trend for so long now that can we really still call it a trend? It’s decadent, yet healthy. Creamy, yet crunchy. Plus, it’s highly nutritious and an excellent source of fiber and healthy fats. Seriously, what’s not to love!?

We like to keep things interesting (and delicious), so here are five toast variations that will make you fall in love with the classic all over again. Note that you won’t find any precise measurements here since the beauty of avocado toast lies in the way it’s rustically put together.


Ginger Strawberry Mint Avocado Toast

The beautiful contrast of flavours and colours make this version a beautiful lunch or even dessert! In a small bowl, add two or three fresh chopped strawberries with half an avocado, the juice from half a lemon and a pinch of freshly grated ginger. Add a splash of maple syrup, a few roughly chopped mint leaves and let sit for about 30 minutes. Then top your favourite toasted bread with the mixture and sprinkle with hemp seeds.

A delicious reinvention of the breakfast sandwich. This avocado toast combines the classics of a good breakfast with the simplicity of our favourite avocado snack. Start by preheating your oven to 375F and baking the bacon for 25 minutes. Remove from the oven. Brush the bacon with maple syrup and sprinkle with cayenne pepper, and pop in the oven for another 5 minutes. Next, scramble two eggs. Toast your favourite bread, spread half a mashed avocado, sprinkle with salt and pepper, top with 2 slices of bacon and scrambled eggs. Enjoy!


Crispy Radish Avocado Toast

Crisp and clean, yet spicy with flavour, radishes add a delightful crunch to avocado toast. Butter a piece of toast and add half of a mashed avocado. Sprinkle with sea salt and add thinly sliced radishes on top (as much as your heart desires).


Grapefruit hazelnut avocado toast

Refreshing flavours with a delicious crunch, this grapefruit avocado toast combines the healthy fats of avocado, olive oil and hazelnuts with the vitamins and freshness of grapefruit. Start by toasting your favourite bread, then spread half of a mashed avocado on top. Segment half of a pink grapefruit and lay the slices over the avocado. Roughly chop toasted hazelnuts and sprinkle on top, then add a drizzle of good quality extra-virgin olive oil.
