January 21st, 2014 – Quebec: It’s official! Ariane Lavigne, from the team Canada Snowboard, has been named athlete to the Canadian Olympic Team !
You can meet Ariane Lavigne for the first time over coffee and quickly feel like you two are old time friends. You would never guess that this wonderful girl, who talks animatedly and laughs with a contagious smile, has been conquering the world one mountain at a time on her snowboard!
Somewhere in between practice in the Italian Alps and competitions in Mont Tremblant, Ariane took a break to meet with us in Montreal, and tell us a bit more about herself.
This Monday January 20th, our amazing ambassador who last year climbed to the top of the World Cup podium in Sochi, will find out if she gets to represent her country and sport in this years’ Olympics. While you wait for the news, press play and let yourself be inspired by Ariane Lavigne!
Before you leave, don’t forget to leave her a note of encouragement below!
A little more about Ariane Lavigne:
BORN TO MOVE
Ariane was born and raised in Tremblant, Quebec, a happy, open-air region.
THE CANADIAN TEAM
Ariane is now a professional athlete in alpine snowboarding. This sport is unlike any other because it values speed as well as smooth turning all along the descent. In the Sochi Olympics, there will be 5 snowboarding events, including 2 in alpine snowboarding: the parallel giant slalom (February 19th) and the parallel slalom (February 22nd). Good luck Ariane!!
PLAYING OUTSIDE SINCE…
It’s still unclear what she learned first, to walk or to ski? Ariane discover alpine skiing when she was 3 years old, in Chamonix, France with her parents and she participated in ski competitions until the age of 17, when she discovered the new love of her life… snowboarding and jumping!
Ariane likes training in Tremblant, her favorite mountain! She likes the atmosphere, the Club Tremblant team and snowboarding with her friends. For 4 years now, she has travelled with the National Snowboarding Team for training camps (American/Canadian West and in the Southern Hemisphere) and to participate in the World Cup tour, mainly in Europe.
Ariane was champion of the Nor-am Cup 2011 and had her best performance last year with her first placement at the World Cup in Sochi, on the future slopes of the 2014 Olympics! She is the Canadian vice-champion 2013 in parallel slalom and finished 11th overall in the 2013 World Cup. The best is yet to come J
OFF THE BOARD
When Ariane isn’t on the slopes, she loves spending time with her friends playing outside… ideally where it’s nice and warm on a sunny beach! She is also a nutritionist and works with the Vivaï Nutrition Experts team in Montreal. She graduated from the University of Montreal in Nutrition in 2007 and has just received her degree from the International Olympics Committee in Sports Nutrition (2013).
LIVE OUT LOUD EVERYDAY
I live every day to the fullest by setting a goal for myself that will help me achieve my dreams. I’m inspired by those around me, so I surround myself with skillful people and I learn from my efforts and mistakes! I enjoy every moment life brings to me! Live Out Loud Everyday!
JANUARY 24TH photo: Behind the scenes!
We did a photoshoot last week with Ariane, in preparation for a little surprise… plenty of numbers around the screen, but what it doesn’t reveal, is the temperature! Ariane says: “it was -20 but I was never cold…!”
February 14th, 2014
As usual, we checked in with Ariane’s fan page and were ecstatic to discover the photo above!
Ariane was less than 1 second too late to make it to the finals. She posts the news and tells us that even thou she feels frustrated, there are lots of positives in her Olympic adventure and she’s very excited to see that 3 Canadians made it to the top 8. We are so proud of Ariane for her accomplishment! Bravo!!!
DROP BY OUR MONT TREMBLANT ATELIER THIS SATURDAY MARCH 15TH 2014 FOR A CHANCE TO CHAT WITH ARIANE!
