We went to see Andy The Anh, Lolë’s head designer, to learn about the inspiration for the new Fall/Winter collection. He showed us some of his drawings, pictured above and told us how he built the line:
“Working out has now become a lifestyle and as a result, exercise clothing is migrating out of the gym into the streets, just like Olivia Newton-Jones foreshadowed in the 80’s. Looking good and feeling beautiful in any occasion is a way of self-expression and so today’s growing workout trend has created a need for active wear to be a trendy. The modern woman needs items that can fit into her busy day and wardrobe. Essentially, exercise clothing is the new ready-to-wear.
This season Lolë brings you back to the 80’s with a modern twist. While the bold and bright colors are the statement of the collection, Red made the center stage of retro hues. Violet, Spectrum Blue, Enamel and Burnt Orange round up the “Olivia Newton – Let’s get physical” inspiration. I was stimulated by the bold and bright colors from the 80s. I wanted to give them a feminine touch and an elegant look, while respecting the functionally and technicality that are so vital to active wear.
The geometric prints in Black & White or the multicolor stripes amplify your adrenaline and human endurance, the color blocking and contrast trims convey the ideal of power in sport. All together, they express in the mental and physical sense.
The outerwear of Lolë takes from concept of Urban Utility, and it helps you move with your urban groove and keeps you warm and comfortable in the city as on the trail.
The collection Fall-winter 2012 is definitely a turning point for Lolë.”
