Master the art of layering

How does one master the art of layering?

In fall as in winter, mastering the art of layering is essential to keeping warm and dry while allowing clothing to breathe.
FIVE BASIC RULES FOR AN EFFECTIVE LAYERING SYSTEM
  1. Multiple layers are more effective than a single thick layer.
  2. The first layer is the most important one: it helps quickly wick away moisture from the skin and regulates body temperature.
  3. Clothes that are too warm make you perspire, thus increasing the risk of being cold.
  4. Avoid wearing fabrics such as cotton during physical activities, as they absorb moisture and are slow to dry.
  5. The looser the outer layer, the better the air circulation.
