One Day Detox

 

DETOX = getting rid of the toxins that have been building up in your system.

 

FASTING = giving a break to your body, by putting your digestive system to a rest and allowing your cells to have the necessary energy to do their job i.e repairing and detoxifying.

 

 

DETOX YOUR BODY

 

The body has its own detoxifying process, but too many toxins are putting it under too much strain. So from time to time it is good to give it a hand.

 

o  Spring and autumn and after the holidays are the best time to detox.

 

o  We need to detox to get rid of the toxins that are building up in our system. Modern life has bombarded us with thousands of toxins : preservatives, chemical agents, pesticides that we find in our food, clothes, home, stress, lack of sleep or activity. It is very important to help the body to detoxify naturally.

 

The body naturally grows, maintains, repairs and heals itself, given right conditions to do so.

 

 

Here are a few simple tips to include in your daily routine to give you body a clean start:

 

On waking

A large glass of warm purified or spring water with the juice of half a lemon or 1 tbsp of organic apple cider vinegar.

 

Breakfast

500 ml (16 oz) of cold pressed fruits and vegetables juice

 

Mid morning

500 ml (16 oz) of cold pressed fruits and vegetables juice

 

Lunch

500 ml (16 oz) of cold pressed fruits and vegetables juice

 

Afternoon snack

500 ml (16 oz) of cold pressed fruits and vegetables juice

 

Dinner

500 ml (16 oz) of cold pressed fruits and vegetables juice

 

Throughout the day

Purified or spring water, detox herbal tea. Before going to bed a chamomille tea. Practice Yoga, Have a long walk in nature, book a massage treatment, a sauna…

 

 

TIPS

 

Change juices everytime. Drink the last juice 2 hours before sleep.

 

After your 1 day Detox, here are a few tips to help you :

 

Pay attention to your portions : ideally you should eat 80 % of raw or slightly sauteed vegetables and 20 % or cooked food (gluten free, dairy free)

 

Eat slowly, mindfully : Take the time to sit down, have a deep breath before starting to eat, avoid to eat while watching tv or workig on your computer. Do not eat when stressed or angry. My tip to eat slowly and mindfully is to eat with chopsticks and putting them down between each bites.

 

Eat when hungry : pretty simple, isn’t ! But not always when possible due to family or social life. Do your best, listen to your body..

 

Chew your food : this will help your digestion.

RECIPES

 

Detox herbal tea

32 oz of purified or spring water, 1 inch of fresh Ginger, 5 fennel seedd, 1 star anise, 3 green cardamom pods, 1 cinnamon stick.

Slightly crush the seeds and pods to release flavor. Boil and let simmer on low heat for 15 min. Drain and enjoy !

 

Detox juice

2 celery bracnh with leaves, 1 cucumber, ¼ of fennel, 2 Kale leaves, 1 apple, ¼ lime and 1 inch of fresh Ginger.

Choose organic fruits and vegetables. Rince them. If possible use a juice extractor.

 

Detox broth

32 oz of purified water, 1 cup of organic vegetable stocking, 1 minced onion, 2 pinced garlic gloves, 1 leek minced, 1 diced carrot, 1 diced zucchini, 1 diced parsnip. 2 tsp of Coconut oil. Pink Himalyan salt, black Pepper. 2 thyme branches

Sautée the onion in the coconut oil, add the garlic. Sautée for 1 min. Add the remaining vegetables, toss. Cover with water, stocking. Add the thyme. Season. Cook for 20 min on low heat. You cana dd a ½ tsp of tumeric with the water or curry.

Also 1 Tbsp of tamari when you serve.
