Like many of your favorite yogis, Dawn Mauricio majored in Marketing. Lucky for her current followers and students, after finishing her degree, she went traveling to South Asia and found herself in a Thai Monastery…

“I realized how little I needed to be happy. I kept meeting people who swore by Vipassana/Insight meditation so finally I decided I had to do it. My room only had a chair and sheets to sleep on. I learned about detachment from things.” – Recounts Dawn in an interview with Lynette from the blog My Creative Fling.
The rest is good karma and a remarkable practice leader for us.

Born and raised in Montreal, Dawn is now a well-respected yoga and meditation teacher with a playful, dynamic, and centered approach. She is known for her boundless energy and smiling personality that are both contagious and motivating.
“In yoga we are always playing with our edge, which is our limit in stretch, strength, endurance, and balance. It is also where real transformation begins as it is just outside our comfort zone.” Says Dawn. But she knows that yoga can really go beyond. Dawn firmly believes that how we offer ourselves in practice reflects how we offer ourselves in life. This inspires her to find new ways to extend her practice beyond the yoga mat and meditation cushion – and to encourage her students to do the same.

She is herself a true contemporary urban yogi who embraces the ancient traditions of her practices while seamlessly adapting them to the fast paced, tech-crazy world of today. She travels regularly around the globe to connect with nature, lives at the heart of Montreal’s trendy Plateau quarter, doesn’t have car, and counts on social media and Google Voice for tele-communications. Dawn has even joined the “A Year of Living Without” challenge, which questions her relationship to many protagonist components of modern life.

Although yoga has been a part of Dawn’s life for almost 15 years, her journey has evolved into a broad vision to share, connect, and create community. In 2007 she started the Yoga Mala Foundation, a non-profit organization that supports the development of yoga programs in communities in need. She teaches regularly at Naada Yoga, offers free meet-ups at Lolë Ateliers and organizes retreats in dream destinations.

We are honored that Dawn Mauricio has accepted to lead the Lolë White Tour Montreal session at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. The event sold out in less than 24hours! But stay tuned with us, we are working on an alternative way for you to join the session (ssshhhhh, we’ll keep you posted!).

In the meantime, get zen on the go with Dawn’s calming voice; download her meditation series directly from iTunes.

You can also learn 5 different ways to meditate. After you’ve chosen the method that is best for you, select the most comfortable pose out of Dawn’s suggested 5.
